Happy Lantern Festival!

Today is known as the Chinese Lantern Festival, marking the 15th day of the first Lunar month and the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration.

Traditionally, families eat sweet rice balls known as Yuanxiao (元宵) and watch lanterns. Today, lanterns (traditionally red) can be seen everywhere throughout china; in the streets, in houses, public spaces and windows.

Today, many people celebrate with fireworks – my neighbours included – which light up the Chinese sky for many different events and festivals.

Wherever you are in the world, I wish you a Happy Lantern Festival!
